TREE-mendous Summer Reading Program!

Come listen to some stories, sing some songs, do a craft, eat a snack together, and have some fun at our beautiful library!

*Summer Reading Program Kick-off on Sunday, June 22nd from 3 to 5PM.  Speak for the Trees with "The Lorax" movie and activities!!

*4-Week Family Storytimes (for preschoolers & up) on Wednesdays at 10AM!

*Our first Summer Family Storytime session begins Wednesday, June 25th.

*Our second Summer Family Storytime session begins on Wednesday, July 23rd.

Summer Pajama Storytimes! 

*Stuffie Sleepover Party -- Thursday, July 10, 6:30 PM

Bring a furry friend to listen to some animal stories, do a craft, and eat a snack.  Your stuffed animal gets to sleep over at the library.  When you pick it up on Saturday morning, your animal will have pictures to share of its Amazing Library Adventures!  Come in your pajamas for Thursday evening!

*"Rainforest" & Summer Reading Program Wrap-up TREE-mendous Pizza Party and PJ Storytime -- Thursday, August 14, 6:30 PM

Come in your pajamas to eat some pizza, do a craft, and enjoy some stories, as we celebrate another year of summer reading!

(We welcome any child who'd like to attend these parties, whether official Summer Reading Program participants or not, but please register with Ms. Sue at 860-315-5181.)

Kid's Book Reading!

*Thursday, July 17th @ 7PM - Come hear John-Manuel Andriote read Wilhemina Goes Wandering, based on the true story of an adventurous Connecticut cow!  Ages 4-10 plus adults!

Weekly 4-H Program!

*Wednesdays in July at 3:30PM, for ages 8-12.

*"In the Woods" Nature program by Kellogg Environmental Center for ages 4-7 on Sunday, July 27th @ 3PM.

Family Craft Nights!

*"Family Tree" Craft Night on Thursday, July 24th @ 7PM!  Make a frame-able family tree together!  (for school-aged children & parents)

*"Save-A-Tree" Upcycling!  Make a stylish paper and paperclip bracelet or keychain on Thursday, August 7th @ 7PM!  (for school-aged children & parents)

Connecticut Nutmeg Book Award Nominees

The library now has all titles listed on the 2014 Connecticut Nutmeg Book Award nominees list available  for loan.  The Nutmeg Book Award encourages children in grades 4-8 to read quality literature and to choose their favorite from a list of ten nominated titles. Jointly sponsored by the Connecticut Library Association and the Connecticut Association of School Librarians, the Nutmeg Committee is comprised of children's librarians and school library media specialists who are members of our sponsoring organizations.

The library purchases an average of 10 new children’s books per month. 

A library card makes a great gift for your child on their birthday!  Ask the librarian about this the next  time you are at the library.

   Volunteer at the Library!

We are always looking for people to help out at the library.  Perhaps you'd like to serve on the Board of Trustees and help out with the operation and management of the library.  Or maybe you could help our librarian with various projects and day-to-day tasks.  If you are interested in volunteering please stop by the library and speak to the librarian or send us an email today!
