A Monthly Book Discussion
Group is Starting Up!
Everyone is welcome! For
our first meeting on Wednesday, September 22nd at 7 PM,
we'll be reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by
Lisa See. The Boston Globe calls this book "Powerfully
alive, unfolding like a waking dream, haunting, magical, and
impossible to forget." Centering around the lives of
women in 19th century China, there should be lots to talk
about with Snow Flower and the Secret Fan!
More book discussions to come
on October 27th, November 17th and into 2011. Always
on Wednesdays at 7PM. Please join us for any and all
Book Discussions at the library!
Children's Story Hour -
Volunteers Needed!
We need volunteers to help
with the Children's Story Hour this Fall. Please stop
by the library or call us at 860-974-0376 if you can help
out!
Children's Summer Reading
Program!
Keep track of your reading in
your "Make a Splash - Read!" papers. If you are
participating in the Governor's Summer Reading
Challenge, the same books can also count for our library
program!
There are prizes here for you
anytime you come to the library for more books. When
you have logged 30 picture books or 10 chapter books, you've
earned a coupon for a *free ice cream* from Sweet Evalina's
Stand!
Connecticut Nutmeg Book
Award Nominees for 2011!
The library now has all titles
listed on the 2011 Connecticut Nutmeg Book Award nominees
list available for loan. Please read about it

Library Expansion
Wraps Up!
The re-construction of the
John F. Williams Law Office and construction of the
connector is now complete. Donated shelving is being
installed throughout the library. A handicap access
ramp will be built and a new book drop-off box will be
installed this fall as we
finalize the library expansion project. Please
information about the building project.
Operation Paperback!
We are collecting slightly
used paperbacks
to ship to our troops serving overseas. The response
so far this year has been great and we urge everyone to keep
donating their paperbacks for this great cause! Please
