Sign up for our Virtual Animal Embassy Show “Animals Prepare for the Winter”. Meet a variety of live animals, including a Eurasian Eagle Owl, a Fennec Fox, a chinchilla, a Giant Flemish Rabbit, and more! December 12 at 1 PM. Register with Ms. Sue to receive the Zoom link. Sponsored by Connecticut Humanities and the West Woodstock Library.
Family “Gnome for the Holidays” Outdoor Gnome Contest! (think scarecrows, but gnomes, of course . . .)
There will be a prize for each entry and a Grand Prize for the winner! How do you enter? Just bring your fairly weatherproof creation to the library porch during our regular hours from December 1- December 12 and the librarian will record and tag your entry and help you set up in back of our building. Vote for your favorite by number from December 14 -19 by e-mailing Ms. Sue or calling the library. The winner will be announced the fourth week of this month!
West Woodstock Library is having a Word Scramble Challenge throughout the month of November!
Solve the scramble by first finding the letters in our windows, either from inside or outside the library. Now put the letters in order, and either tell the librarian at the desk your answer, or e-mail Ms. Sue your solution. If you are learning to read, just tell us the letters, and tell us the colors you found if you are small. You will win a Turkey Bookmark craft kit, while supplies last!
Our Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt continues through the end of October! Count the pumpkins in our windows, either from inside or outside the library. Give the librarian your tally or e-mail Ms. Sue at susandstern@gmail.com. Get a free book!
On Saturday, October 31, come in costume to the library to get a free book and a sweet treat! You may come into the library, with masks, two families at a time, or stay one family at a time, in the foyer. There are chairs by our garden to wait in if need be, and you may also pass the time pleasantly on our Storybook Walk behind the library. (The Walk will be taken down for the winter after the holiday weekend.)
